BROOKLYN – Bradley Beal’s agent, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports and
Entertainment, addressed Wednesday afternoon his client’s status with the
Phoenix Suns and his no-trade clause.
Speaking with The Arizona Republic at length, Bartelstein said, “the reports
that are out there are created out of thin air,” that Beal would lift his
no-trade clause if Milwaukee, Denver, Miami or the Los Angeles Lakers were
trade destinations.
“Brad’s entire focus has been and is on getting healthy with his ankle and
helping turn things around for the Suns,” Bartelstein said.
Elaborating on Beal’s no-trade clause, Bartelstein said that’s something
Beal “has worked very hard to earn and is of tremendous value. Being a
professional athlete brings all kinds of amazing blessings. However, the part
of the business that every player dreads is having no control over his future
when it comes to trades and so the fact that we have control of that aspect
of Brad’s career is something that is extremely precious and is an asset
that we certainly would never want to relinquish.

"Having said that, I never operate in terms of absolutes, meaning that we
would never say there would never be a trade that you would not consider,"
Bartelstein continued. "You always keep an open mind like everyone does in
all aspects of their life, and so if something was to come around that you
were truly excited about, you always have to consider those things.”

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and Beal are the only two players
in the NBA who currently have a no-trade clause.

Averaging 17.1 points on 48.5% shooting in his second season with the Suns,
Beal returned from a left ankle sprain Monday against Cleveland after missing
the previous two games against Washington and Detroit on a five-game road
trip.
The Suns acquired Beal from the Wizards in the summer of 2023 in a deal that
sent Chris Paul to the Wizards. The three-time All-Star left Washington
second on the franchise’s all-time scoring list with 15,391 points in 11
seasons, just 160 points behind Elvin Hayes.

Phoenix traded its unprotected 2031 first-round pick to the Utah Jazz for
three first-round selections on Tuesday.
